The Craziness of Columbus!

I thought that I would take a couple of minutes to update every one about the happenings in Columbus.
We left for Vegas a little over a week ago to attend our brother Marc's wedding in California. On Saturday, after the wedding (which was wonderful!), we got a call from home that their had been a lot of flooding in Indiana and that our town was hit pretty hard.
Mike got on the phone as soon as he could and started making calls to his counselors (who are awesome!) and many families in the ward to make sure that they were okay. There were several in the ward that had a lot of damage to their homes, but they were all safe.
We got home Tuesday morning about 2:30 a.m. We couldn't see much at that time of day, but ended up getting out the next day to assess damages. We couldn't believe what had happened. How fortunate we were to live where we do. Mike began working at many homes of members in our ward and started to help in organizing work crews.
The boys and I decided to go and stay with my parents for a couple of days. For many reasons, but mainly to rest from our trip and let Mike do all that he could. He has been gone so much this week and has helped (along with so many others) so many people. The work that the members of our church (and I am sure other churches) have been able to accomplish is amazing. Salt Lake City sent in 1800 or so cleaning kits that have been distributed among the city and also helped with water, etc. I have been in awe at how fast they make things happen.
It has been a trying week for many, including our family but we are so grateful for our blessings. We still have our home and belongings, and most importantly each other!

I was wondering if the Church sent in supplies. I got an email from a friend saying that hygiene & cleaning supplies were needed & I hoped that the Church had stepped in. Of course they did!! :)

I haven't checked your blog for a while. I am so glad all is well-- getting there-- for you guys. You are great to spend so much time helping others when you have your own family to worry about and you are pregnant. Wow!
